2025 Summer Solstice Tarot Spread

A Tarot Spread for Personal & Collective Combustion

Background: blue sunny sky. Foreground Text: Summer Solstice 2025 Tarot Spread by Gem Blackthorn

In the Northern Hemisphere, the Summer Solstice will be on Friday, June 20, 2025 at 10:42 PM Eastern Time.

The 2025 Summer Solstice is astrologically charged with heat, volatility, and transformative fire. Solstice means “sun stands still,” marking the year’s peak of light before the slow descent into darkness.

It’s also a metaphorical inferno.

It will force us to stand in the sun shirtless with no sunblock in sight.

Between June 19–21 (roughly), you can expect extreme heat, wildfire, arson, explosions, and continuous political upheaval. And the expectation to drink in this news and still continue business as usual may prove combustible, leading to public unrest and personal breaking points. Watch out for explosive behavior and brush up on your anger management tools. Now is not the time to fight a stranger over a parking spot.

JUNE 2025 SUMMER SOLSTICE TAROT SPREAD

Because the 2025 Summer Solstice aligns with astrological patterns of extreme heat, volatility, and potential disaster, the summer solstice tarot spread is designed to help you embrace fire and heat as both danger and catalyst. The solstice will be a moment to reflect on where you need to act, where you must pause, and what’s burning beyond your control.

The center card grounds you in your immediate reaction to crisis (because the world is in crisis, whether you’ve accepted that or not), while the surrounding eight cards map the terrain of your life to encompass inner resilience within external chaos.

Top Center: June 2025 Summer Solstice Tarot Spread. Center: A diagram of the sun, the number one in the center and 2-9 in pink squares around the sun. 1. How the querent is reacting to current events.

June 2025 Summer Solstice Tarot Spread by Gem Blackthorn

Card 1: How are you reacting to current events?

This card represents the querent at the present moment. How are you handling current events, if at all? This may seem like a softball, but you’d be surprised how many people are on autopilot and have not yet paused to consider how they’re coping with increased global uncertainty.

Card 2: What ignites you right now?

Passion? Rage? A sudden creative surge? This card shows what’s lighting you up, for better or worse.

Card 3: What needs containment or release?

Not all fires should spread. This position reveals where you’re burning out of control or where you’re smothering a flame that needs oxygen. (Are you tired of the fire imagery yet? I’m not.)

Card 4: Where is transformation waiting?

The solstice marks a global and personal turning point. This card points to the area of life ready for rebirth. What must die so something stronger can rise? Sit with this card a little longer if you’re sensitive to change.

Card 5: Where do you need to pause?

Even in a crisis, there are moments of eerie calm. Do you need to pause at work, at the gym, in nature, or at home? What plans need to slow down to be revised?

Card 6: Are your energy sources healthy? (Yes/No)

There’s a lot of talk of energy these days. Energy flow. Nuclear energy. Being low on energy. Etc. But like all fundamental forces, energy itself is neutral. Energy is neither inherently good nor bad. What matters is how we channel it. Meaning the right application at the right time in the right measure makes all the difference between power and destruction, between vitality and burnout. Take a look at Card 2. Is what’s igniting you nourishing or toxic? This card is meant to be a Yes or No answer only.

Card 7: What’s being consumed too quickly?

Time? Money? Empathy? Patience? This card warns of depletion. What’s vanishing faster than you can afford? And is there anything you can do about it?

Card 8: What’s beyond your control?

This card may or may not be related to Card 7. You can’t out run an explosion if you didn’t even know you were in the blast radius. This card names what is out of your control. The goal is for you to recognize that you can’t do anything about it before you burn up trying to resolve it.

Card 9: What is your guiding light?

Not all is doom and gloom. Some day you’ll be telling younger relatives about how crazy the 2020s were. What will keep you going until then?

And that’s it! I hope you have a re-energizing solstice. I hope you use your newfound vitality to step outside and spend time with your community.
