This Book Teaches How To Astral Project in 3 Days

I’m no stranger to astral projection. As a teenager drawn to the occult (and craving a little freedom under the watchful eyes of strict parents) it was one of the first practices I explored. Once in adulthood, I would astral project spontaneously.
I always found myself in the astral version of whatever place felt most like home. Even when I was attending school 400 miles away, I would consistently “come to” in an empty replica of my childhood home. That remained my default location for years until I bought my first house. A few months after closing, I began waking up in the astral version of my new house instead.
It usually happens when I nap on the couch. I “wake up” feeling tired and heavy. So much so, that I roll off the couch onto the floor, and then grip the arm of the couch to hoist myself up. I move sluggishly, like I’m walking at the bottom of the pool.
Then two things occur that give me a clue that I’m not actually awake, but astral projecting.
The first will be that something is off about the house. A window that I keep close is suddenly open. The living room is twice as wide. Maybe there’s an extra closet.
Once the realization hits, my conscious minds immediately attempts to find proof that we’re not actually awake. This is usually in the form of slapping or pinching myself. There is no pain in the astral. I’m completely numb. So I commence to act out a slapstick comedy sketch, a la One Stooge. I slap my face, pinch my arms, pull my hair. If I feel nothing, I know that I’ve arrived.
Again, this happened spontaneously. But recently, I’ve started focusing on developing this skill so I can access it more intentionally and at will.
That’s how I found The Phase: A Practical Guidebook for Lucid Dreamingand Out-of-Body Travel by Michael Raduga.
Unlocking the Secrets of Lucid Dreaming & Out-of-Body Travel
I actually found Raduga’s YouTube tutorial before I found out he had a book.
I’d gone through several tutorials, but this one was by far the most detailed. What stood out to me was his description of the roll-out method because it matched exactly what I had naturally done and felt.
In The Phase, Raduga presents lucid dreaming and out-of-body experiences (OOBEs) as attainable skills anyone can learn within days.
He doesn’t approach it as a mystical or vague spiritualism. Raduga’s approach is clear, tested, and science-minded. Based on a decade of research with thousands of participants through the Phase Research Center, the book claims that if you follow the steps precisely, you can access “the phase state” in as little as three days.
“The Phase”
Raduga uses “the phase” as a modern, catch-all term for experiences like lucid dreaming, OOBEs, and astral projection. He insists these aren’t separate phenomena but expressions of the same state of consciousness. In the phase state, the mind becomes vividly aware and active during REM sleep, allowing a person to explore a parallel reality indistinguishable from waking life.
What’s The Point Astral Projection?
Personally, I practice astral projection for spiritual development and for just plain ol’ fun. Raduga, however, claims that this practice can also be used as a tool for:
Healing and psychological release
Exploring your subconscious
Visiting other places, eras, or even fictional worlds
Meeting deceased loved ones or idols
Unleashing creativity and practicing real-life skills
Experiencing freedom from physical limitations
It’s also a way to “shatter the illusion of reality,” as Raduga puts it, by proving that consciousness is not bound to the body.
Get There in 3 Days: The Indirect Method
Raduga’s “indirect technique” is the fastest and most accessible method for beginners. It works like this:
Sleep 6 Hours — Set an alarm to wake yourself early.
Wake Up Briefly — Get up for a few minutes, drink water, and re-read your instructions.
Go Back to Sleep With Intention — Set a mental note to try the techniques upon awakening.
Attempt Separation Immediately Upon Waking — Without moving, try to “roll out” of your body or levitate.
If That Fails, Cycle Through Techniques:
Rotation (imagine spinning)
Swimmer (mimic swimming motions)
Image Observation (focus on visuals behind your eyelids)
Hand Visualization (imagine rubbing your hands)
Phantom Wiggling (move your limbs without moving them physically)
He says to repeat these in quick succession. If something clicks, try to separate again.
The roll-out method tends to work best for me. While I’ve astral projected sleeping on my back, I’ve had more successful experiences when lying on my stomach.
Tips for Astral Projecting Successfully
Set a clear plan of action for what you’ll do in the phase, such as flying, eating something, or looking in a mirror.
Don’t overanalyze. Perform techniques robotically, as instructed.
Do it aggressively but calmly. Focus and determination are essential.
Practice only 2–3 times a week to avoid burnout.
Personally, I have the most success in the mid-morning or early afternoon. I wake up, eat a carb-heavy breakfast, and take a small nap afterwards. Granted, this works for me because I have insulin resistance and oatmeal knocks me out better than any sleep medication. I think the challenge for most people will be falling back asleep and time management. I suggest attempting this on your day off for your first time.
Real Stories, Real Results
The book features dozens of real-life accounts from people across the world, recounting their first successful OOBEs using Raduga’s methods. These testimonials show the accessibility of the practice, even for total beginners, and offer practical lessons for what to do (and what not to do) once you’re “out.”
Raduga’s mission is to make phase experiences as commonplace as meditation or dream journaling. Whether or not the general public is ready to embrace astral projection, he’s laid out a clear, accessible method for whenever they change their mind.
You can download the book for free at obe4u.com or support Raduga’s work by purchasing the 2015 edition online.
Note: I was not paid to promote this book or method. I have no relationship with Raduga and doubt he knows who I am. I just found something that worked for me and thought I'd share.
