It's all about Justice

Before I begin, I want to clarify that tarot and astrology are two independent systems of divination. We have very recently begun to combine these two practices, but it is not necessary to do so.
Short answer: The tarot card that corresponds with Libra is the Justice card.
The Scales
Both Libra and the Justice card are represented by the scales of balance/scales of justice.
In Tarot, the scales represent truth, clarity, and the careful weighing of options. Every action has a consequence, and that balance is the ultimate goal. Everything must be accounted for to achieve equilibrium.
In Astrology, Libra is the only zodiac sign represented by an object rather than a living creature. Libra’s entire energy is focused on creating harmony, partnership, and fairness. They are constantly weighing perspectives, considering both sides of an argument, and seeking a beautiful, just middle ground.
The Quest for Truth and Fairness
The Justice card is the ultimate arbiter of truth. It calls for absolute honesty, integrity, and ethical behavior. When this card appears, it’s a sign that the truth will come to light and that fairness must prevail, whether in a legal matter, a personal conflict, or a karmic reckoning.
Libra is also ruled by Venus, which governs not only love and beauty but also a deep-seated desire for peace and harmony. A Libra’s sense of justice is often aesthetic as much as it is ethical. They are repelled by ugliness, coarseness, and unfairness. Libras are the friends who mediate arguments, the partners who strive for equality, and the colleagues who fight for what is right. Their innate sense of fairness is a direct reflection of Justice’s sword, which cuts through deception.
The Double-Edged Sword of Decision
The sword in the Justice card is double-edged and held upright, symbolizing the power of a sharp, unbiased mind and the need to make clear, decisive judgments. This is not meant to punish (although you may disagree if you’re on the receiving end). It’s about discernment.
Libra, despite its reputation for indecision, is a Cardinal sign. Cardinal signs initiate action. The trope of indecision comes from their deep desire to weigh every option to reach the most fair and harmonious outcome. Once that decision is made, however, it is as final and sharp as Justice’s sword. Once they make a conscious choice for balance, they will stand by it.
Cause and Effect
Justice is often called the “Karma Card.” It speaks to the universal law of cause and effect: You reap what you sow. It’s a card of accountability.
Libras have a deep, often unconscious, understanding of this karmic balance. They are naturally drawn to partnership (the ultimate exercise in cause and effect) and often find that their lives are a reflection of the energy they put out into the world. They understand that to receive fairness, they must act fairly; to experience harmony, they must be harmonious.
When Justice Appears for a Libra (or Anyone!)
If you are a Libra and you pull the Justice card, it represents you. Consider your Libra qualities and how they affect your role in the situation.
For anyone else, the Justice card invites you to channel your “inner Libra.” This means that you’re advised to:
Make a decision you’ve been putting off
Seek the truth in a confusing situation
Take responsibility for your actions
Strive for fairness in your relationships
Find your center and restore balance to your life
The Pursuit of Justice
The Justice card and the sign of Libra are two expressions of the same universal principle: life requires harmonious balance. Justice provides the cosmic framework for this law, while Libra embodies the human journey to live it through relationship, beauty, and a relentless pursuit of what is fair and true.
